President’s Gift Fund


Each year we honor our outgoing president with a monetary gift from the NALS states, chapters, and members. This year’s gift will be awarded to Helene Wood, PP, PLS-SC, TSC-RE at the 2013 NALS Professional Development and Education Conference this coming March. The NALS Board of Directors fund most aspects of the work they do for NALS, including travel to NALS board meetings. Certification Study Options

For those of you who have registered to sit for a NALS certification exam this March, congratulations! You are on your way to advancing your career. If you have not registered yet, it is not too late! Exam registration deadline is January 1, 2013. To assist those preparing for their exams, NALS provides numerous study resources and opportunities.


Online Study Group

NALS will hold a series of WebEd sessions with coverage over all parts of the exam, as well as exam specific reviews for the ALS, PLS, and the Professional Paralegal (PP). The series will wrap up with a general session over test taking tips. Here is the OLSG lineup:


January 8, 2013 – Written Communications (ALS, PLS, and PP)

January 15, 2013 – Office Procedures and Technology (ALS and PLS)

January 22, 2013 – Ethics, Human Relations, and Judgment Skills (ALS, PLS, and PP)

January 29, 2013 – Legal Knowledge and Skills (PLS and PP)

February 5, 2013 – ALS Review

February 12, 2013 – PLS Review

February 19, 2013 – Substantive Law (PP)

February 26, 2012 – PP Review

February 27, 2012 – Test Taking Tips


Certification Cram Session

Once again NALS will be offering a one-day cram session followed by the opportunity to sit for the exam of your choice while you are in Tulsa for the Professional Development and Education Conference! The cram session will be listed on the conference registration as a Ticketed Event for the low cost of $99!


Legal Training Course

The NALS Legal Training Courses are offered locally by states and chapters and Online through a partnership with Stetson University.  These courses can prepare you for a career in the legal profession and are a great way to prepare for certification.

Calling All Exam Administrators!

If you are certified and are interested in administering the ALS, PLS, or PP examination, we need you! Administrators for the following cities have been identified, but we need to be able to offer more testing sites. If you are available the first Saturday of March and are willing to proctor the exams on behalf of NALS, please email price@nals.org immediately.

Educational Offerings


Join the Next Generation Leadership Committee on Tuesday, December 18 as NALS Marketing Director Brynne Williamson, PP, PLS-SC, and NALS Past President Patti Infanti, PP, PLS, discuss the very important topic of transitioning in our chapters and states as well as other leadership aspects of succession planning. This session will be held at 8 p.m. CST and is FREE to members.  Registration is required and space is limited.
