Each year we honor our outgoing president with a monetary gift from the NALS states, chapters, and members. This year’s gift will be awarded to Helene Wood, PP, PLS-SC, TSC-RE at the 2013 NALS Professional Development and Education Conference this coming March. The NALS Board of Directors fund most aspects of the work they do for NALS, including travel to NALS board meetings. If you, your state, or your local chapter would like to include a gift, please fill out the contribution form and submit online OR mail with a check (payable to NALS President’s Gift Fund) to:

NALS Appoints Leadership Identification Committee (LIC)

The NALS LIC will be responsible for selecting the best and brightest from within the legal industry to serve as candidates for each vacant position on the NALS Board of Directors. This is a ground-breaking event for NALS and its future. The committee consists of 5 members with staggered terms as well as Tammy Hailey, CAE who will serve as the non-voting staff liaison.


After a “blind study” of the initial applications, Leadership Accelerator Assessments, and personal interviews, we are pleased to announce the following appointments to the NALS Leadership Identification Committee.

Online Study Group – Week Four
Week four of the NALS Online Study Group is here! Are you taking advantage of this FREE member benefit? If you have not attended a study session yet, it is not too late to jump in! Join us this Tuesday, January 29, for Legal Knowledge & Skills. All sessions will be held in webinar format, with time for Q&A at the end. All sessions will begin at 8:00 p.m. CST and pre registration is required. Once you register, you will be emailed instructions for accessing the webinar, including a toll free number and a website link to view the presentation.


The Paralegal’s Role in Estate Planning


Join NALS this Thursday, 01/31/13, for an estate planning/family law webinar presented by Nichola (Nicci) P. Engle, PP, PLS, which will discuss the paralegal’s role in estate planning as a tool for future planning. There are several different elements that are involved in estate planning. Focus will center on the paralegal’s/assistant’s role in the process of estate planning and the many different avenues it can take. Session will be held at 8 p.m. CST. Registration is required and space is limited, so do not delay!
