NALS is a leader in the legal services industry offering professional development by providing continuing legal education, certifications, resources, and training to those choosing the legal services industry as their career. NALS was formed in 1929 and was incorporated in 1949 and has been dedicated to members of the legal community ever since. By providing exceptional education opportunities and networking arenas, NALS has continued to be THE association for legal professionals.  Our members represent every area of this industry from paralegals and legal secretaries to legal administrators and office managers.  Because of this diversity and an openness to welcome all members of the industry, NALS offers a broad spectrum of expertise to make the programs offered valuable to all members of the legal services industry.  This allows NALS’ members to learn about other areas of the industry, making career enhancement as well as advancement easily attainable.

Along with the education and professional development opportunities NALS members become part of the family. Members build life-long friendships with colleagues from around the country and use these friendships to build both professional and personal relationships. By attending NALS conferences you will be able to interact with members from all types of backgrounds so you can use the diversity of NALS to increase your knowledge and broaden your perspective on ways to do your job and build your career.

While tangible benefits are always great, (click here to see full list of benefits), NALS offers you the opportunity to belong to the oldest association for legal support professionals and is the only association that is all-inclusive, giving you a home whether you stay on your current path or branch out into a new opportunity in the field.

Dues Waiver Options For NALS Members!

Financial Hardship Waiver

We care for each and every one of our members, and we realize that sometimes financial situations unexpectedly change due to unemployment. This Financial Hardship Waiver is to be used by full-time, current, continuing members (no retired, student, or associate dues will be waived) who are unemployed at the time that membership dues are due for renewal. Additionally, we will also request that your current state and local chapter waive your chapter and state dues. Your request will be considered if you are unemployed at the time your dues are due, you are a full-time, current, continuing member, and payment of those dues would create a financial hardship. Waivers will be for one year.

Engage 5 Membership Campaign

The “Engage 5″ membership campaign is underway! Beginning January 1, 2013 and ending January 31, 2014, this campaign rewards the individual member who recruits 5 new members within the same membership classification. In other words, if you are a regular member who pays $120 national dues then you must sign up five new members in that same classification. The new members must report you as their sponsor when they submit their application to NALS. Once all five new members have been recruited, the member must complete a Waiver of Dues Form, listing all the new members and submit to the NALS Resource Center. After the form is received and new members confirmed, the recruiter will be notified and their national dues waived for the year (this excludes state and local dues).

If you are a Life Member or if the individual member’s firm pays their dues, then NALS will give the member a $120 credit voucher which can be used for conference registrations, store purchases, certification fees or WebEd seminars. The full face value of the voucher must be redeemed at the same time when submitted. No credit for unused amounts will be accepted.

Once you have Engaged 5 and your national dues have been waived, pay it forward. Tell the 5 members you recruited that they too can get the following year’s dues waived if they sign up 5 new members. Let’s spread the word about NALS and help grow our membership!
