Parliamentary Procedure: Who’s Robert? Do We Need Parliamentary Procedure? How Do We Use It?
Peggy Sullivan, PP, PLS
As members of various organizations, we have all experienced meetings that were disorderly or unorganized. To protect the rights of members equally and impartially and to conduct a meeting in a fair and orderly manner, most organizations follow a form of parliamentary procedure. In this session, we will review: general principles of parliamentary procedure according to Robert’s Rules of Order; common parliamentary terms; a standard agenda and how to conduct a meeting; and different types of motions and steps to handle them.

10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Collaborative Divorce
Barbara Bartlett
This new method of divorce resolves disputes without resorting to litigation or strong-arm negotiation. The values are not solely money and never focus on making the other person lose. Respect and preservation of dignity are key components to the negotiation. This method guides the parties to an agreement that meets both of their needs. Your role as a legal professional will shift to wholly constructive preparation of the case, full disclosure, and direct positive relations with your client’s spouse and his/her attorney.
