It is that time of year again for tax-exempt organizations with fiscal years ending April 30 and gross receipts of $50,000 or less per year to file the IRS Form 990, also known as the “e-postcard.”  You may file now and the deadline for filing is September 15.  Those organizations with calendar years ending December 31 must file by May 15.

Please note:  The Form 990-N electronic-filing system was moved from Urban Institute’s website to IRS.gov on February 29, 2016. ALL ORGANIZATIONS must register at IRS.gov prior to filing their next Form 990-N. This is a one-time registration; you will not be asked to register again when you file next year.  The link for filing is www.irs.gov/990n.

Once you have filed and received the “proof of acceptance,” please email it to bates@nals.org so your association will be included on NALS' annual report to the IRS as a subsidiary in good standing.   Organizations that fail to file required Forms 990, 990-EZ, or 990-N for three consecutive years will automatically lose their tax-exempt status.

If you have any questions, please contact Member Services Department at bates@nals.org or 918.582.5188.
