Court Observance Week Program Ideas from Other Chapters

Getting to Know the Courthouses in Seattle
This unusual tour of the various courts in the Seattle area will give you an insider's view. Find out from the experts how and where to file your documents, courtroom procedures and policies, and how to avoid any mistakes that might cost you your case. Materials will be provided for easy reference. Attend the individual sessions or get a great deal on the whole week! Space is limited. Court Tours:

This seminar series was co-sponsored by the King County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division and the Greater Seattle Legal Secretaries Association. Registration was handled through the King County Bar Association, with different registration fees for bar association members; NALS members; nonmembers; the public; and individual sessions.

Houston Association of Legal Secretaries Cordially Invites You to Night in Court
Meet Houston's Own Women in Black (Philosophy-Mentality-Sensibility). Panelists included five of Houston's top female judges – The Honorable Judges: Hannah Chow, Vanessa Gilmore, Belinda Hill, Pat Likos, and Ruby Kless Sondok. This program was offered as part of Houston LSA's monthly dinner meeting.

Phoenix Legal Support Association Justice for Youth Open House
The Phoenix Legal Support Association (“PLSA”) invites all to attend a “Justice for Youth Open House” to be held at the Sandra Day O’Connor Federal Courthouse in downtown Phoenix. The evening will include a panel of speakers (i.e., clerk, secretary, paralegal, attorney, judge) to share insights about their careers highlighting the characteristics of each position, and peaking the interest of students attending.

A proclamation from Governor Janet Napolitano for Court Observance Week will be sent with the invitations to all local high schools, colleges and law firms to encourage interested individuals to learn more about the court and all the possible legal career fields. The local colleges specializing in legal career curriculums will be invited to set up a booth or table to promote their educational program. PLSA will have the same opportunity to share information about all the educational opportunities and benefits of NALS. In addition, the legal employment agencies and vendors, who specialize in legal services and products, will be invited to attend.
