Grants

The NALS Foundation has played a major part in providing funding for NALS, local chapters, and state associations, as well as regions. Chapters, state associations, and regions are eligible to receive grants.

An applicant must submit a proposal with supporting materials related to the grant request to NALS Foundation Grant Award, c/o NALS Resource Center, 314 East Third Street, Suite 210, Tulsa, OK 74120-2409. The deadlines for submitting proposals are March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1.

The Foundation budgets $10,000 annually for this grant program. Topics appropriate for grants include any areas of education, certification, membership, marketing, and technology. Applicants are encouraged to develop new and exciting programs, keeping in mind that the “tried and true” programs are also very appropriate. Individual scholarships or programs benefiting an individual are will normally not be approved.

The Foundation Board of Trustees will review Grant proposals. All requested information must be included with the proposal. Whenever possible, please submit your grant proposals electronically.
A proposal must include the following items:

• A description of the project goals and objectives,
• A statement indicating how these goals will directly benefit the association,
• A brief description of how the project’s goals and objectives will be achieved, and
• The amount of grant requested along with a proposed budget for the project.

Other information to be included:

– the name of the chapter, state, or region making the request,
– the contact person with email address and telephone numbers,
– the size of the applicant’s membership,
– the amount requested, and
– whether or not the applicant has received a NALS Foundation grant within the past three years.

All marketing and distributed materials must include the Foundation logo with the following statement, “This project was made possible through a grant from the NALS Foundation.” Downloadable statements with the Foundation logo are available at http://www.nals.org/foundation. Click on grants.
