Establish
a Membership Phone Tree.
Even though we are all professionals and adults and chapter
events are usually noted in the chapter’s publication,
it is important that the membership committee establish a
phone tree and contact each and every member each month to
remind them of upcoming meetings or events. Monthly contact
with members gives you an opportunity to remind them to invite
a colleague to attend with them, or provides you with an
opportunity to find out why a member has not been coming
out.
Use
Email as a Marketing Tool.
Either the President or LMC should send a Current Events E-Blast
to all members who have email. Email can be a powerful marketing
tool if used efficiently and as long as it is not overused.
Five
- Ten Year Certificates.
A great way to retain your members is to present a certificate
commemorating a member’s five or ten-year anniversary of
membership.
Feature
Member Who has Received CLE Award.
Introduce the newest member to receive a NALS CLE Award by announcing
their name at the next meeting.
NALS
Member Pins.
Present each new member with a NALS Member Pin at a general membership
meeting. This is a great way to introduce the new member to all
seasoned members in attendance.Free Meeting Passes.
Give a free pass to every member who renews - so they can invite
someone to a meeting at least once a year.
Feature
a Member in the State or Chapter Publication.
Honor two members in the State or Chapter Publication and
have that member be in the “Member Spotlight” with
one new member and one seasoned member.
Encourage
Attendance at State meetings.
Sponsor a first timer to each state meeting. The member sponsored
needs to give a short report of the meeting event to the members
at the next membership meeting.
Help
New Members Feel a Part of the Chapter.
It is important to get new members involved right away with small
tasks that they can succeed in. Make sure to acknowledge their
help and give them recognition so they feel good and want to
do more. |
