What Is Our "It"?

Developed with the assistance of Pam Hemann, CAE, President, Association Management Services, Inc., Pasadena, California.

There are several steps we need to go through in order to determine what is “it” for our members, steps such as:

• Understanding our members, our association, our legal community, and our competition
• Communicating with each other and listening to each other
• Marketing membership and our association
• Recognizing our strengths and weaknesses
• The “it” is what gets us excited - what energizes, refreshes, and stimulates us

What is “it?” Some members were heard saying:

• Learning ways to do my job better
• Learning to be a leader
• Improving my life and my personal goals
• Having the support of friends
• Improving individual professionalism and productivity!!!

That is what we are actually buying as members of NALS.

Improving individual professionalism and productivity is a benefit each of us experience through NALS’ products, education, certification and networking. This improved professionalism and productivity touches our emotions, and we feel knowledgeable, confident, and productive.

That is the “it” of NALS . . . the association for legal professionals.

Improving individual professionalism and productivity is what we have to offer to each other, to new members, to our employers, and to the legal profession as we share our great opportunities to learn and network. Our responsibility is to create those opportunities for others to enter the legal profession and to be the best they can be.

Let’s Get Out There And Sell “It”!
