Follow the NALS Conference!

We are sorry if you can't join us in Tulsa next week for the Professional Development & Education Conference. You don't have to miss out on all of the fun! You can follow along on Twitter by searching for the hashtag #NALSPD. We also ask that anyone tweeting from the conference to use this hashtag so that we can easily track what is going on. NALS staff will be tweeting away and we know that several members in attendance will be as well.

We will also be posting information on the NALS Facebook page so be sure to check it out and keep up with the excitement!

March 25, 2010 - 8:00 p.m. Central
Word...Avoiding Disaster

Instructor: Melodi Pentico (Haynes & Boone, LLP)
It’s 10 minutes to your deadline, the document just needs a few finishing touches and it is out the door. Then, disaster strikes!

We’ve all lived through or at least seen someone else suffer through it. Your document just stops behaving rationally. Maybe your tables fail. Maybe your formatting won’t stay applied, or maybe your document won’t open at all. Whatever specific disaster you encounter, the symptom is the same: your document is just plain acting weird.

In Word: Avoiding Disaster we will discuss document “corruption” and how it can be avoided. By building a document following a few simple guidelines we can greatly reduce the possibility of last minute disasters.

April 8, 2010 - 8:00 p.m. Central
The Future of the Legal Secretary
Instructor: Toni R. Beasley, CLM (Andrews Kurth LLP)

April 15, 2010 - 8:00 p.m. Central

Word...Document Recovery

Instructor: Melodi Pentico (Haynes & Boone, LLP)

the NALS Foundation

Charles Swindoll wrote “one essential ingredient for being an original in the day of copies is courageous vision.”

It was that “courageous vision” that created the 20/20 Patrons Task Force, the forerunner to the NALS Foundation, in 1989 and it is that same spirit of courageous vision that guides the current NALS Foundation.

The Foundation continues to solicit funds through Circle Donations, sweepstakes drawings, and live and silent auctions.  In turn, we do what we do best; we put your money to work for you.

NALS and the NALS Foundation continue to work together.  In Norfolk it was announced that NALS was creating a “Think Tank” and the Foundation was there to offer assistance in the form of funding.  We can only imagine the innovative ideas that will come from the Think Tank and how those ideas will impact the future of NALS.  And just think—YOU have a hand in directing the future of NALS!

On May 20, 2010 and August 10, 2010, NALS will be offering a “free to members” Webinar titled “Think Big— Insights on the Knowledge Needed to Serve on the National Level,” moderated by Julie Abernathy, PP, PLS, NALS 2009-10 President.  The NALS Foundation is pleased to sponsor these events and to assist NALS in growing our future leaders.  Again, your generosity played a roll in providing this benefit to our members.

Because of our commitment to NALS and to its members, the NALS Foundation is pleased to announce the development and implementation of . . .
