Message
From Cathy Hankins, PP, PLS, 2006-2007 NALS President
In
the next few weeks our chapters and states will enter
a new era with new leaders. As we kick off the new
year, no matter if you are serving as an officer, a
member of the board, a committee chair, or a supportive
NALS member, you can do your part to make your association
the best that it can be. My first NALS appointment
was to the Certifying Board. Beth Sorrow, PLS, the
Certifying Board chair at that time, shared this story
with us. I've used it in many leadership presentations
over the years because it has a great message. My question
to you is: do you want to have a perfect year or an
excellent year?
Perfection
or Excellence – What's Best?
Perfection
is being right.
Excellence
is being wrong.
Perfection
is fear.
Excellence
is taking a risk.
Perfection
is anger and frustration.
Excellence
is powerful.
Perfection
is control.
Excellence
is spontaneous.
Perfection
is judgment.
Excellence
is accepting.
Perfection
is taking.
Excellence
is giving.
Perfection
is doubt.
Excellence
is confidence.
Perfection
is pressure.
Excellence
is natural.
Perfection
is destination.
Excellence
is the journey. |
Perfection
is afraid to fail, but excellence knows that nobody
is perfect. Excellence always out performs perfection.
Enjoy the journey and have a great NALS year!
Cathy
