Do
you need sample letters to send to non-members in your
area telling them what NALS purpose is, benefits, and/or
general information? The Travel Tips document
located on the website (leaders section) http://www.nals.org/leaders/membershipreports/NALSTravelTips.doc and
the nals.org (book 5) http://www.nals.org/nalsorg/index.html has
excellent examples of letters. However, the following
letter was written by Marion Sarcuni, president of
NALS of New York City. Marion has given permission
for you to use this letter to make contact with non-members
in your area.
First,
let me introduce myself, I am Marion Sarcuni, the President
of NALS of New York City, and Vice-President of NALS
of New York.
On
behalf of the Membership Committee, I would like to
tell you a bit about our organization. NALS…the
association for legal professionals, is a tri-level
organization: local, state and national and is
dedicated to the enhancing the contributions and
competencies of those engaged in the legal profession.
The New York City Chapter welcomes legal professionals
to become members of our Association. A good
portion of our members are paralegals and legal secretaries. Further
information about NALS can be found at www.NALS.org.
For
2006, it has been our priority to have high quality
and well-informed monthly meetings in order to meet
our members’ professional needs. NALS, also provides
Continuing Legal Education, Professional Certification
Examinations (the Certified PP for Paralegals; and
the ALS and PLS for legal secretaries), Networking
Opportunities, a Commitment to a Code of Ethics, and
many other benefits.
Our
goal for the 2006-07 year is to raise the bar for our
Chapter. We will be having a "Get Acquainted
with NALS" meeting in September, which will be
hosted by JPMorgan Chase. The guest speaker will
present a discussion on "Identity Theft" at
6:30 p.m. at Chase's branch on E. 52nd Street, off
Fifth Avenue. I will forward the details to you
as the meeting date approaches.
The
New York Chapter has offered seminars on quite a myriad
of topics during the past year – including
Stress Management, Investing, Financial Planning, Changes
in the Bankruptcy Law, as well as many informative
sessions. NALS strives to continue to offer interesting,
informative and educational topics.
Founded in 1929, NALS is the oldest legal support service
organization in the country. Its membership cuts across
many levels of legal support from legal secretaries and
legal assistants to court support professionals. Please
feel free to call me at any time at 212 589-4223; I will
more than glad to answer any of your questions and talk
with you.
Sincerely,
Marion
Sarcuni
