Marketing
Marketing and Membership seem to go hand in hand
and a great Marketing Tool is a Membership Drive.
Have
a Membership Drive as one of your regular meetings. An
evening meeting would be nice to have either a
cheese and wine social or have cocktails and heavy
hors d'oeuvres.
If you want
to keep it strictly a social event summertime is
a perfect time to have your social poolside and
have a causal evening. You should
have your president or membership chair say a few
words about the association and the things that
you do. Remember you are marketing your association.

EXCITEMENT
There has to be a good reason that my excitement
level is already rising for Fall - besides the usual
Fall foliage, football games and Halloween. There
is! It is the NALS Education Conference & National
Forum in St. Louis on October 11-14, 2007! I already
purchased my airline ticket (when Southwest Airlines
ran a really good sale), booked my hotel room, and
registered for the conference. I received my confirmation
letter last week. I am registered!

Resources
Are Everywhere!
I have been a member of NALS…the association
for legal professionals for nine years; I obtained
my professional paralegal certification in March
2004; and I am a member of the NALS Regulation
Certification Committee and have been for several
years. Committee members monitor regulation and
other issues affecting the legal professional
on a regular basis using sources such as websites
of bar associations and other local and professional
association web sites, trade magazines, message
boards, court sites, etc.

What
Does A Pillow Fight, S'mores, and CLE Credit
Have In Common?
RLSA has been working hard to come up with a
program which would offer continuing legal education,
serve as a fundraiser, work on membership and
have fun at the same time. Robin came up
with the idea of a good old fashion pajama party. This
pajama party will provide some thought-and-discussion-provoking
legal education in a comfortable, casual setting. It
is scheduled to take place a few weeks before
Thanksgiving in quiet country surroundings about
45 minutes from Richmond at a retreat-like facility
in the country. This will afford the attendees
an opportunity to conveniently retreat for some
quality “me” time before those holiday events
begin.

Leadership
Leadership is a process of getting things done through
people. In order to be a good leader, you have
to be a good follower. Always work with others
around you to improve your skills and their skills. Be
supportive of everyone around you. Encourage
them to be the best that they can be at whatever
it is they chose to do.

ACE
- What is it?
ACE, American Council on Education, was founded
in 1918 and has become a unifying voice for higher
education. And, for the last 31 years,
has provided recommendations to colleges and
universities regarding the number of college
credits individuals may receive for formal courses
and examinations taken outside traditional degree
programs. What does this mean to us? It
means that we enjoy the possibility of receiving
college credits for passing the ALS and PLS exams
(PP exam is under review).
