Ready for Those Regional Meetings?
Ready for those Regional Meetings? They have everything you could ask for. Education, networking, sightseeing trips and more and all at a very reasonable price. Below is a summary for each of the eight NALS regions along with a link to their registration forms for the upcoming regional meetings. I hope you will all be able to take advantage of the hard work that has been put in by the Regional Directors and the regional meeting committees to bring you this great line up of activities. Below are some of the activities that have been planned for each Region!
Region 1 will hold their meeting at The Hilton Garden Inn in Springfield, Massachusetts and will begin their weekend on Friday, June 27, 2008, with a Welcome Party in the Hospitality Suite. Saturday will bring on 6 hours of continuing education which will include sessions entitled, "The First Year and You!", "Sub-Prime Mortgages: Its Effect", "The Courts and Children" and wrapping up the education for the day with "Criminal Law." There will also be a Foundation jewelry drawing and the always popular raffle. Saturday evening has been left free for you to explore Springfield to your heart's content. more information here
Region 2 will be held at DoubleTree Hotel Crystal City in Arlington, Virginia, from July 18-20. They have planned a full weekend of fun and education for their members and guests. Friday has been set aside for sightseeing. A tour of the monuments has been made available for an additional fee and the rest of the evening is free for you to do as you please. Saturday will be filled with 5 hours of continuing legal education on the following topics: Avoiding Frauds & Scams - Mary Ellen Callahan, Esq.; Stress in the Workplace - Judy Belmont; Subprime Mortgage Fallout – Left Out in the Cold - Dave Souders; and Diversity - Hank Grezlak. There's lunch with NALS' President, Dee Beardsley, PP, PLS, networking and taking a chance at the silent auction and raffle items. Sunday will hold the drawings for the raffles and will culminate with a Town Hall Meeting. more information here
Region 3 will be holding their "My Old Kentucky Home" Retreat on July 18-19 at the Ramada Inn in Lexington, Kentucky. Their weekend will begin on Friday with a Welcome Party/Dinner, Regional Meeting and "Entertainment" afterwards. Saturday will begin with a Motivational Speaker – Kelly Thorne of iBloom, who will speak on "Inspiring Women" and then, its off to the CLE Races, for 5.25 hours of continuing education beginning with "And They're Off! Equine and Racing Law" presented by Walter S. Robertson, Esq., Stites & Harbison, PLLC, followed neck-in-neck with "Trying a Sexual Harassment Case" presented by Debra Doss, Esq., with "Criminal Law/Marijuana and DUI" presented by Gatewood Galbraith, Esq. bringing up third place and in the final stretch, "The Voice of Leadership" presented by Julie Abernathy, NALS President-Elect. more information here
Region 4 will be "Making Music in Nashville" at the Hotel Preston, August 1-3, 2008. Those talented music makers will begin the festivities on Friday evening with a Welcome Reception for the attendees which will be followed on Saturday by an all-star line-up including Ed Yarbrough, Esq., U.S. Attorney, Middle Tennessee who will be speaking on Federal Criminal Law – Topic TBA; Henry E. Hildebrand, III, Esq., Of Counsel for Lassiter, Tidwell, Davis, Keller & Hogan whose topic will be Bankruptcy Practice and Procedures; Retired Chief Justice A.A. Birch – Topic TBA; E. Andrew Norwood, Esq. of Waller, Lansden, Dortch & Davis who will be speaking on Entertainment law – Topic TBA; and last, but certainly not least, Randy Spivey, Esq., Disciplinary Counsel who will get in your Ethics Hour! But hold on, there's more to come. On Sunday, Nancy Baird of Savvy Style will be speaking on Professional Style and First Impressions and then, the Mystery Speaker will be on from 9:30-10:30 to round out your 7 full hours of continuing education. Region 5 will hold its 2008 Conference in Duluth, Minnesota, June 13-14 at the Inn on Lake Superior. Region 6 - ♫ we're going to Kansas City, Kansas City here we come! ♫ Region 6 will be meeting at the Quarterage Hotel & Spa in Kansas City, Missouri on July 18-21 and their theme for the meeting is "That's Entertainment." Don't miss such classics as Twelve Angry Men: A Jury's View, featuring Jessica Baer; Cold Truth: Writing The Great American Crime Novel, featuring with Joel Goldman; Broadcast News with your favorite WDAF-Fox 4 News anchor and attorney, John Holt; Double Jeopardy – Interactive Game of Grammar Skill, featuring Cherie Kennedy; The Innocent Man featuring Jay Swearingen, Ex. Dir., Midwestern Innocence Project with special guest, Dennis Fritz; The Client: Rights of the Child, featuring Laurie Snell, Esq., and last but not least, Outlaw Jesse James Gets Sued featuring James P. Region 7 will be holding its conference at the Hallmark Resort in Newport, Oregon, June 27-28, 2008. Continuing Education sessions totaling 6.5 hours are planned on the following topics; Prosecuting Attorney and Criminal Defense Attorney Panel; Polygraph; DUII–Field Sobriety Tests; DUII–Intoxilyzer; Coast Guard; Tsunami Preparedness; and don't miss NALS President-Elect, Julie Abernathy, PP, PLS, as she presents, The Voice of Leadership: How Leaders Inspire, Influence and Achieve Results." Region 8 will be holding its conference July 26-28 at the Radisson Suites in Tucson, Arizona! For those CLE Junkies out there, Region 8 is offering 10.75 hours of continuing education at this conference. Region 8 will be "Blazing Trails in the Wild West." The conference will start with "The Law Takes a Vacation" Coldwater Creek Fashion Show on Thursday, and then Friday you will "Blaze Your Own Trial to Success" with Dean L. Axelrod, JD, MBA. CLE for the weekend will include Can We Bring Law & Order to the Workplace, Now that "Billy the Kid" is Joining Our Gang?; Forget the Divining rod When Predicting Jury Behavior; Bringing Your Territory to Statehood; Round Up Your Wagons and Learn How to Market or Essential Communications to Grow Your Organization; True Grit and Good, Bad and the Ugly of Ethics; The New Era of Personalized Medicine: Opportunities and Obstacles; Murder in Tombstone.
