|Awards & Recognition|
NALS values and respects its members for their many contributions to all levels of our association. NALS recognizes the achievements of members and of local chapters through its membership recognition and award programs. Praise and recognition are essential to an outstanding professional association, and NALS makes recognition a part of its culture. While NALS recognition and award programs are national level, they begin with the grassroots levels. NALS can only recognize members for their achievements if other members pass on information about them. Help NALS identify our outstanding members by submitting nominations. There are unsung heroes in our association just waiting for you to nominate them. Below are some of the recognition programs NALS offers.
The NALS Award of Excellence is presented annually to recognize outstanding achievement in association leadership and professional development. It is the top honor a member can receive from NALS. This award began in 1957 as the Legal Secretary of the Year. The name was changed in 1994 to better reflect the membership of NALS and to be more inclusive of those being honored.
Member and chapter recognition is done monthly through spotlight features in the NALS docket, our biweekly email newsletter. NALS began recognizing individual members in these spotlight sections with the February 2010 issue. Later that focus was expanded with the June 2012 issue to include chapters.
