After several weeks of working to gain approval for GI Bill funding by the Oklahoma State Accrediting Agency, NALS is pleased to announce that retroactive to January 1, 2013, NALS has been officially approved by the State of Oklahoma under the provisions of Section 3689, Title 38, of the United States Code. This approval provides that eligible veterans and other eligible persons can now have the costs of their certification exam reimbursed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The GI Bill is a federal law that provides education assistance to military veterans, service members, and their dependents through a group of benefit programs offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs. The GI Bill version in effect today is the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB), established in 1984. The original GI Bill was enacted in 1944 to help WWII veterans get the education and financial resources they needed to successfully transition back into civilian life. Since then, the GI Bill has had several updates for veterans of both wartime and peacetime service. GI Bill benefits always include grants for college degree and career training programs. Typically, GI Bill education funding does not have to be repaid.

As a way to honor those who serve and protect our country, NALS’ Board recently implemented a reduced membership and certification fee structure for military personnel.
