Online Exams: The Process |
Prolydian updated their proctoring platform on December 13th, 2024. For more information and full technical requirements, please review the updated resources on this page. Review our website for a list of our exam(s) offered online. You can find the online applications here. Apply for your chosen exam month by the 1st of the previous month (for example, apply by April 1 for a May exam). Applications are reviewed once monthly, by the 15th of the month. Once your application has been reviewed by the NALS Certification Manager, you will receive a confirmation email with additional information.
Approximately two weeks prior to the start of the exam month, you'll receive an email with detailed instructions on how to access the online platform. Rosalyn is an on-demand platform so you can take your exam any time you like and do not need to schedule the exam ahead of time, but you must take your exam within the 30-day window. After your profile is complete, you will be able to run a tech check. It is strongly recommended that you complete this check on the device and internet connection you plan to use on exam day. NALS is not responsible for delays, forfeitures, or additional fees due to the candidate's failure to acquire the required equipment.
On the day of your exam, log in to Prolydian and make sure you have a government-issued photo ID that matches the name on your account. After connecting to the proctor, you will be asked to conduct a room scan and share your screen. After your identity has been established, you will be able to begin your online exam. Please read all prompts and instructions carefully. The amount of time granted for your exam depends on which part(s) you are taking. A timer will display at the top of the toolbar. Incomplete exams will be automatically submitted after the time limit.
Your exam session is recorded (screen, audio and webcam) and reviewed by third-party, unbiased certified proctors. Results of the exam reviews are delivered directly to our organization including the screen, audio, and webcam recording. You will have the option to add comments about any of the items, and access a notepad in the toolbar. Those taking the CLP will also have access to a calculator and will need to reference the Exhibits when directed by question prompts. If anything appears suspicious during the exam process, the video will be flagged and reviewed by the National Certifying Board and the Certification Manager.
You will receive preliminary results via email upon completion. Please contact NALS if you do not receive your preliminary scores. You will be notified via email when your scores have been approved. This process can take up to 30 days depending on when you test. If you pass the exam, a certificate will be mailed to you within 30 days and you'll also appear on our Certified Professionals list. If you fail any parts of the exam, you will be able to reapply as soon as the next open exam window. Refer to the Certification Resource Manual for full policies.
Step-by-Step Guide Please review the Rosalyn Step-by-Step Guide or this FAQ to understand what to expect on exam day. If you are unable to take your exam during your exam month or miss your appointment, you MUST fill out the above form to request an extension. This form is the request for the extension itself. Payment of $50 is required before your request will be processed. It may take up to 3 business days for the update to take effect in your Prolydian account so plan accordingly. You will be notified at the email address above when your request has been approved. Upon approval, 30 days will be added to your Prolydian account. Extension requests are non-refundable.
