Specialty Law Certificate

Any certified Professional Paralegal (PP), Professional Legal Secretary (PLS), or Certified Legal Professional (CLP) may earn a Specialty Certificate after obtaining 50 CLE credit hours in one or more areas of substantive law within a five-year validity period. Specialty Certificates will be valid for 5 years, after which time, a new application must be submitted in order to maintain a valid Specialty Certificate. After earning the requisite CLE credits, the legal professional may highlight their achievement by adding the "SC" as a post-nominal designation. For example, John Doe, PP, CLP-SC or Jane Doe, PP, CLP, ALP-SC, Administrative Law. The CLE hours used to recertify your PP, PLS, or CLP designation can be applied to your Specialty Certificate. However, all 50 CLE credit hours must be dedicated to the same area of law. You may apply for multiple Specialty Certificates.
