Kerie Trindle Byrne, PLS, PP, CP

 

Kerie Trindle Byrne, PP, PLS, CP has been a legal professional for nineteen years and has worked in many different capacities in the law firm environment including file clerk, legal secretary, office manager, administrative assistant, and paralegal.  Through determination, hard work and on-the-job training, Kerie gained the background knowledge and skills to perform as a legal support professional.  Believing education to reinforce her skills was important Kerie attended Phoenix College and earned her Associate of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies, obtained her PP and PLS certification from NALS and CP certification from NALA.  Kerie has practiced many areas of law and is currently employed as a family law paralegal with David N. Horowitz and Shelley L. Rosas of May, Potenza, Baran & Gillespie, P.C. 

Kerie joined NALS in 2007 and hit the ground running serving NALS of Phoenix as Director of Education followed by service as Director of Membership, President-Elect, President, and Director of Marketing and Public Awareness.  She is proud to again be serving as NALS of Phoenix President.  In addition to her service to NALS of Phoenix, Kerie previously served as NALS of Arizona as Secretary, President-Elect, and President. Nationally, Kerie has been a contributing member of the Grassroots Innovators Committee and the Genius Bar Task Force.  Kerie is also currently serving her second three-year term on the Leadership Identification Committee where she and the other committee members are identifying the future leadership candidates for NALS.  

Being awarded the NALS of Phoenix New Member of the Year Award in 2008, the NALS of Phoenix Award of Excellence in 2011, the NALS of Arizona Award of Excellence in 2012 and being a finalist for the NALS Award of Excellence in 2013 have been highlights to Kerie’s NALS experience. Kerie believes her communication skills and creativity make her an effective leader and she is proud to continue to serve NALS in any capacity. 

Kerie is a self-proclaimed Disney addict and when she is not working, teaching, volunteering with NALS, or writing for her blog evenbettertoday@wordpress.com, she is spending time with her husband, kids, family and friends at Disneyland. 


Tara Hughes, PP-SC, ACP, RP

 

Tara has been in the legal field for over 20 years and has been a member of NALS since July 2005.  Tara holds a Legal Secretary Associate of Arts degree from Highland Community College in Des Moines, Washington and a Paralegal Certificate from Phoenix Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.  Tara is proud to have passed the NALA CLA exam in May 2006, the NALS PP exam in March 2009, and the NFPA RP exam in 2016. She received her NALA Advanced Certification in Family Law-Child Custody, Support and Visitation in January 2013 and her NALS Specialty Certificate in Estate Planning/Family Law in March 2014.   Tara is currently serving as a Director/Secretary on the 2017-2018 NALS Board of Directors.  Tara previously served as the NALS Region 8 Director, NALS Foundation Trustee/Chair, and as a member of many local, state and regional boards and committees.  Tara is a Past President of NALS of Arizona and NALS of Phoenix. Tara is grateful to have been awarded the NALS of Phoenix Award of Excellence and the NALS of Phoenix New Member of the Year Award in January 2007, the NALS of Arizona Award of Excellence in May 2010, and the national NALS Award of Excellence in October 2014.  Tara is a certified paralegal currently working with Norma Izzo, Esq. and Shanna Bowman of Jennings, Strouss & Salmon, PLC where she assists them in their family law practice.
